Hello, my ibby's 3-way toggle switch, shown here : has developed a slack behavior. This morning it wouldn't stay in the neck position, it would just flip to the middle position. Same thing but less intense with the bridge position. It seems it has a tendency to move and stay in the middle position. I inspected this and saw a screw not shown above but can be seen here : on the top of the threaded part. I guess i might give it a try with trying to tweak around this miniature screw?

I'd say you have nothing to lose. If it doesn't work, you'll still have to replace the switch anyway.

gd, What's happening here is that there is a nylon or Teflon "bushing" that sits at the (inside) end of the toggle. That pushes against the contacts to close or open them as desired. Since it is a friction operation, rubbing against metal, there will be some wear and tear, as we call it. That eventually rubs the sharp edge (of the nylon or Teflon) down into a rounded edge, and that rounding off won't hold the toggle in place against the contacts - it just slips back to the place of least resistance, the middle position. As newey points out, the standard repair procedure here is: If it jams, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway! And yes, I would expect it to last more than two years, but then again, I wouldn't expect most moving parts to last 50 years or even longer, yet they do. Go figure. HTH sumgai

Thanx SG, i tried to tweak around with the little miniature screw, dont know if it did anything, but for some reason, it works again and stays in place. The reason i didn't wanna replace it, was to avoid the soldering iron. I had too much of it during the strat mods, it made me sick!

The Floyd Rose, the toggle switch- you shredders sure are hard on the equipment! Seriously, glad you got it working, GD.

About the shredding thing, last days i play all day long this one : maybe i become de-shredified as i was when i started with this kind of music! According to my theory, this song is hugely influenced by real ancient greek music. If you want you might check it out, a truly strong song!
