OK gang, it's that time of year again.... Only this time, it starts aboot now, and will continue on for about 4 months. That's because the Other Half got a snootful up her ying-yang and decided it was time to down-size our lives. Meaning, she's moving, and I'm going along for the ride, whether I like it or not. We're buying a new-built home in a small city about 13 miles away, which won't be finished until the end of August or thereaboots, so in the meantime, I get to play handyman and work on making this joint ready for sale. I'll still visit The NutzHouse, just not as many times per day - call it once an evening, with an occasional extra check-in, should the occasion magically arise... c1, ya missed yer chance! sumgai

The nice thing about a new-built home is that, for the first 5 years or so, there's no real maintenance to do, only decorating. And, if your marriage is like mine, you don't get much say in that anyway . . . We'll just have to soldier on somehow. Don't be working too hard on the old place, recognize that most of what you put into it you won't recover at the sale- so lay back a bit.

Except for the snagging....... Here in Spain, it follows this kind of route...... You: What happened to the tiles in the bathroom? We wanted flowers above the bath and there's a cracked one, by the door, just where you notice it, and there is no balustrade on the 'Naya'...... Contractor: Ahh, yeah, well the flower tiles didn't arrive until after we tiled the bathroom. We left them in the underbuild for you, the bill for them is included in the final...... And, I know the cracked tile looks bad, but you really don't understand how difficult it was to tile that wall. It would be too hard to change out the broken one....... And your neighbour payed extra for the balustrade, didn't I mention that, when I said yours would be like his.....? You think I'm joking.....? I wish..... LOL

UPDATE: For the last couple of days, I've been playing hooky from the board.... The house has been on the market only one day, and we've already had a serious, full-price, offer! Looking forward to yet more work, but this time for a good reason, not just to make things look pretty for someone else!! My network connectivity is sporadic, we're staying at a RV campground with no WiFi at all, so it's off to Starbucks when the mood strikes. sumgai

best wishes sumgai - it seems like your pre-sale renovations are paying off. One more offer and you can ride a nice bidding war and see how high $ you can go!

SOLD!!!!!!!!! The first looker hemmed and hawed a bit, but came back and plunked down raw cash, pending only on an inspection, to be provided at their cost. Several other lookers, but they didn't jump quick enough for a bidding war, so we got "only" what we asked, no more. Gee, that's so hard to deal with, eh? More details later, but for the nonce, I'm back in the house, and on an innerweb near you! sumgai

Time is getting short!! The inspection is done, we've made the few repairs requested, and all we're waiting on now is the closing, scheduled to happen about July 17th. But in the meantime, we're heading to Sisters, OR for a week of quilting classes and shows. That means that my logging-in to The NutzHouse will be very sporadic, and that newey & JohnH will have to handle the day-to-day chores. I'll try to keep up with the goings-on, but sometimes, a guy's just gotta relax for a bit, ya know what I mean? sumgai

Lo, and it came to pass...... The papers are signed, the keys have been relinquished, the deed is done. The movers have packed up and hauled out every last bit we didn't get into our own storage unit, we've cleaned up the final bits of cobwebs and other trash you don't see while living in a place, etc. We're in the RV, the cats are with us for the next 6 or 7 days (before they go back to their catsitter), and it's 5 to 6 weeks until we can move into our new home. Road adventures await us, and without a monthly mortgage payment to make, we just might cruise on outta here for a bit. (After the cats have returned to their regular catsitter's home, of course.) All of which means, I'm now having to hit various open wi-fi hot spots to check in here. Fortunately they're getting pretty easy to find, but we can't count on that to happen every night, now can we? Sporadic or not, I'll be here to keep an eye on things, especially that Master Thread Derailer - no telling what he'll do if he learns that it's up to newey to crack the whip around here! As D2o would say "Don't make me come down there!" sumgai

Back when I traveled with cat, it always wanted to curl up and sleep- right underneath the gas pedal!

Back when I traveled with cat, it always wanted to curl up and sleep- right underneath the gas pedal! Exactly why we don't let them travel with us!

Back when I traveled with cat, it always wanted to curl up and sleep- right underneath the gas pedal! Exactly why we don't let them travel with us! Mine insisted on having his head under the brake. I told the wife, "If I have to stop right now, the cat's dead. Sorry."

OK gang, it's official - the new house has closed, and is now ours! Now some/most of you know that in years past, I've seemingly gone AWOL in September of each year. Only once did I consciously post each and every day of that month (and sadly, only one of you caught on to that fact), but this year promises to see me hard at work, painting and doing all the other move-in stuff that wives require before you're allowed to set up your rig. Posting religeously will not be an option for me, sorry to say. By those lights, I'm pre-excusing myself from the need to post every day, and I hope that doesn't upset anyone. I'll still try to get logged in, and to read everything, but that'll be mostly at bed-time, and around here, sleep is a commodity in very short supply, let me tell you! Good luck, and keep up the good work - getting on here and reading everything is more than just a diversion for me, trust me on that one. sumgai
