you're not blind, i was just sleepwalkin'. it will work as you described. i'll edit my previous post to reflect that. more push-pull pots? could get real crowded in there! if you want to get more complicated than we're already getting here, and are thinking about: series/A only/B only/parallel with 2 DPDT 2position switches, this might be a possibility: guitarnuts2.proboards45.com/index.cgi?board=wiring&action=display&thread=1130172881it was originally thought up for a double HB pickup, but could be used as a building block for any 2 pickups or 2 coils. to use it your - to each pickup and the shield MUST be separate. 1 wire + shield will not work. if you use it for the two coils of a HB you need 4 wires + shield.

Christopher, do you know which tone pot you would like to sacrifice for the P-90's volume?

Hey unk,
I think i'll go off of your "cluttered" statement and just leave things how we have them now. Seeing this is my first build, I shouldn't chew more than I can swallow.
And Jim, I was thinkin that I'm gonna want the tone pot the most accessible, seeing theres only 1. So I would like to build it with the usual bridge tone pot as the master tone. Then the keep the usual bridge vol pot the same. But switch the usual neck vol pot to the mid vol pot. And the usual neck tone pot to the neck vol pot. So that the order of the vol pots somewhat goes in an arch around the master tone. In case i'm vague, ill type out the position
MID VOL POT------------------BRIDGE VOL POT
-------------ON/OFF/ON KILL SWITCH----------
NECK VOL POT------------------MASTER TONE

Like this? And, i forgot to ask, which pot would you like to be your push-pull pot, i would guess, since it controls the middle pickup, the most obvious pot would be the middle volume? Jim

one last bit of advice before i get out of the way here guys.
try to describe things as they are view from the rear of the control cavity.
and pick a direction of orientation (maybe up as being toward the neck)
that'll help Jim keep things visual in his final drawing.
oh yeah, and actually check the switches as to the direction of movement vs. which throws are being connected.
that'll save jim some editing on the final drawing if you verify ahead of time.
good luck guys!

Sorry Jim I should have been more clear, In your picture, just switch the neck and bridge vol pots, thatll take care of things.
And yes, I would like the p-90/mid vol pot to hold the push/pull switch.
(sorry, this is looking at the top of the guitar) As far as the orientation of the 3 way toggle and the kill switch. I'd like the toggle to be in standard position, with up as neck, down as bridge. The kill switch, i would like to have the kill position pointing away from the pickups, be it down towards the bottom of the guitar or towards the output jack.
and I know i've said it a million times, but thanks unk and jim for all this help.

so, you want the kill switch to move vertically, with the furthest down possition to "kill"

Ok, here goes.. I've tried to lay out the controls like a Les Paul (from the back) I hope it's how you want it. So, here are your options: With the Kill switch in middle (off) position and the Push-pull pot pushed.. This will give you your standard les paul without the P-90. Use the pickup selector to select: Bridge Bridge + Neck Neck With the kill switch in the same middle (off) position, and the push-pull pot pulled.. This will allow you to use your P-90 only. With the kill switch in the up position (towards the pickups) and the push-pull pot pulled.. This will allow you to use your P-90 with your neck and bridge pickups. Use the pickup selector to select: Bridge + P-90 Bridge + P-90 + Neck Neck + P-90 And ofcourse, the kill switch in the down position, will kill everything, as planned. I hope you understand all that, any questions, just ask Jim

Simply Amazing ;D.
And for the final time, thanks so much for the help with these schematics Unk and Jim.
If I have any other questions regarding building the guitar aside from electronics, i'll be sure to shoot you guys some lines.
