Hey folks, I'm new, how y'all doing?
I just picked up an 89 American Strat with an HS-3 in the bridge, and I want to change the wiring around some (ok, a lot). What I've got in mind involves a Superswitch, which is in the mail, and the following positions:
1 - Bridge, both coils
2 - Bridge top coil/mid
3 - Neck/Bridge bottom coil
4 - Neck/mid
5 - straight neck
I've worked out the polarities of all the pickups at hand, and this should give me hum cancelling in all positions except five. The Neck/bridge bottom is actually kind of cool - not exactly Tele-like, since the bottom coil is just there for function, but it does add a little something to the sound of the neck.
Currently, I plan to have only one Vol and one Tone, affecting everything - I rarely turn the tone down anyways, and the knob right under the strings is more annoying than a second tone would be useful.
That said, if anyone can look over the diagram below and point out any problems I missed, and also whether there's a way to accomplish this switching using only three of the poles on the superswitch (which would give the option of having a second tone to work with should I so choose in the future). I also just bought an 89 bridge pup from Ebay, so the whole exervise might turn out to be moot - I'm gonna do the quieting the beast mod as well, and if the neck experiences the reduce in buzz that it claims to give, I may just go with stock wiring, though I might keep the bridge/neck combo since I bought the superswitch, and I almost never use the mid pickup by itself either.
I'm having a lot of fun with this guitar, because it's already beat up and modded all to hell, so I feel no guilt at all about messing with it. :>

Looking at this again, it seems to me that I could move the white wire to the far left lug of the top right pole, and then jump that lug to the middle lug at bottom right, which would give me the extra pole to work with. Anyone see any problems with this?
