"... and if you think you're gonna leave this mess, well Mister, you've got another think coming!..." That cracked me up, and I had to come up with a few more: - "Snip the extra string off those tuners. It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye."
- I don't care if Mrs. Clapton does let Eric stay out past 9:00, you're not going out to gig on a school night."
- "The guitar's all right for a hobby, John, but it won't earn you any money"-John Lennon's Aunt Mimi
The Holiday 2005 issue of Guitar World has an article called "The Album That Changed My Life." One of the people quoted in it is George Thorogood, who cites the Rolling Stones' "The Last Time." (The album and its title cut.) He said his father never complained about his practicing the song about six times every morning before he even left for school. "Cut to 16 years later: I'm opening for the Stones in Philly. I'm backstage. I've made it now. I'm a success story. My dad is there backstage with me. And I say to him, 'Dad, how about this? After all these years, I'm opening for the Rolling Stones. What do you think of that?' And he looks at me and says, 'They're not gonna play "The Last Time," are they?' I say, 'No, Dad, I don't think so.' And he says, 'Thank God.'" -- Doug C. "Get down off that amp before you break your neck."
