Stratotarts brough this PDF to my attention a few weeks ago: hps.hs-regensburg.de/~elektrogitarre/pdfs/gesamt.pdf . It's a ginormous wealth of information about all things guitar, that is in German. It was said to have been written over a span of sixteen years. I started a thread about it last week, but I'm starting a new thread in order to call attention to an easy to access web based conversion of an automated English translation of Physik der Elektrogitarre: www.echoesofmars.com/zollner/idr/The pdf was converted to HTML with www.idrsolutions.com/online-pdf-to-html5-converter/ and the translation was made using this translation site www.freetranslation.com/?_sp=83e18f5400c4e151.1478853050626 , so the thing is a little rough. The PDF exceeded the size limits of both of those services, so I had to break it up and process it in several chunks, and then reassemble it again, which was not a trivial task. Since the PDF was rigidly formatted, and since an English sentence can often translate into a spatially longer sentence than it's German counterpart, I had to reduce the font size in order to prevent the words from running over the top of other words and graphics, though there are places where that still manages to happen. Despite the crude translation, there is a ton of enlightening information, as well as many entertaining remarks by the author, Manfred Zollner. There is also a photo gallery near the end. The section on pickups starts at page 167 and continues for literally hundred of pages, toughing on everything from the B-H curves of magnetic alloys to the dielectric constant of wire insulation. Discussion of particular pickup designs begins at page 255 I haven't had a chance to read more than about a hundred pages so far, so it anyone sees any particular revelations about issues we've been discussing in the past few months, please share a page number.

Thanks very much for the heads up; this looks to be a huge resource. I have shared this with my guitar-oriented FB groups.
Appreciate it!

Thanks very much for the heads up; this looks to be a huge resource. I have shared this with my guitar-oriented FB groups. Appreciate it! I've been in contact with Manfred and GITEC about getting a professionally done translation, so hopefully we'll have a solid resource within a few months. The amount of hard data gathered there is immense.
