Hi All - I have been exploring a Strat-style design with Master Tone and wondered if folks had ever considered utilizing the "vacant" half of the 5-way in the following manner to provide a variety of capacitor values for the three lone-pickup settings and the two paired-pickup settings. I built a model in Excel to facilitate tinkering with the architecture and it can yield some interesting results depending upon where shorts, opens and actual capacitors are inserted for C2B, C2M, C2N, C2X & C2Y.

sorry this post is 2yr old.. id be keen to know more of this the 5 way switch i try and use the S-Type of just replace the board to do what i want So far gotten it to do MultiTone 10,15,22,32,47nF and Series where it lets you link Neck to Middle or Bridge, and Middle to Bridge as well as Neck to middle to bridge, as well as normal that was from using the S-Type 5 Way PCB board itself
Making a new board, i got it to do kind of Gibson LP/ Telecaster system Neck , Neck&Bridge, Bridge, Neck&Bridge Phase, Neck to Bridge. with the S-Type i could only do Neck&Bridge Phase or Neck to Bridge so i had to make the board up

1) B+(1/((1/X)+(1/((1/((1/Y)+(1/N)))+M)))
i think i am getting lost 2) B+M+(1/((1/Y)+(1/N)))
3) M+(1/((1/X)+(1/B)))+(1/((1/Y)+(1/N)))
4) M+N+(1/((1/X)+(1/B)))
5) N+(1/((1/Y)+(1/((1/((1/X)+(1/B)))+M)))
well looks the same (lol but i did calc that out for position 4 so was looking at the wrong one at the time lol)
well at least the 4 and 5 look the same as 1 and 2
