ok so for a mk2 diagram, should it have phase switch and the neck series switch? And which pots should they be on, or are they seperate switches? For a mk2 diagram, it should have the neck series switch on the Bass/Middle pot & shouldn't be on separate switches.ย I suppose Phase isn't an option afterall but what are your thoughts on Half Out of Phase? What do you think about a Vol/Tone Pots ByPass straight to the Selector & then out to the Jack directly via a Push/Pull DPDT? RE: 'Killer Series Mod', when the ย neck pickup is in series with one bridge coil, of the opposite magnetism to make a new spread-out'humbucker, would the Bridge HB be 100% split or would it be subject to one of the two of those Lawrence SemiSplit networks? (& if so WHICH of the two?) On an HSS with PTB & only ย O N E ย PushPull would you favor... A) a Phase Switch? or B) a Series Switch? or C) a Vol/Tone(but NOT selector) ByPass? Thanks JohnH!

Actually...didn't you say there wouldn't be switches -or at least that it should be a sort of 'auto Series' via the Selector?
Is MK2 gonna be
1) B 2) B+M (Lawrence SemiSplit) 3) B+N (full Split?? Or Lawrence?!) 4) M+N(Lawrence SemiSplit) 5) BxN (full Split?? Or Lawrence?!)
If so, do you think that there'll be a progression from bright to dark evenly thru the Selector positions?

Positions 2 and 3 are tbe Lawrence semi split
At position 5, I think you really need N single available so the series option needs to use another switch. For this mode, the added bridge is a full split.
Actually Ive just drawn it all up while riding a train and Ill post it this evening (its 6.30pm Friday here). Then you can see what you think. I drew it as a seperate switch but imagine it on a pot as a push/pull if preffered.
No reason you cant have a phase switcb if you want to.

Thanks for going to all this trouble (especially if your trains are like the trains we have here!)
I understand, now, that for this or mode, the added bridge is a full split but does it just happen Automatically when the Selector is at 5? That'd be good!

Here is the mk2: The added switch changes just position 5 from N to NxBsouth, and th splitting to Bsouth is automatic if you select this mode. The switch is drawn as a separate toggle, but just imagine its lower edge sitting on a pot and it is a push-pull, in which case pulling it will give the series boost to position 5.

I think its often better to have less options but keep it really easy to change between them. This way, while playing, you can get between any two sounds using only one switch. But, once you experiment, if you want change it to use the other side of that extra switch for something, you can, eg a half split at the position 1, or a full split in position 3 - all easy changes to make.

Thanks Again!
I need to get hold of a few resistors & caps -on order- but I did some basic soldering etc.

Hmmm.... Well it's defiantly a GOOD circuit but somewhat subtle in its differences... I'm thinking I better check the tollerences(accuracy?!)of the components & also audition various amplifiers/environments

I hope at least the series mode in position 5 creates some variation? What do you think of the bass cut control? If you want to step back from the half split sounds, you can get two fully humcancelling fully split versions in positions 2, and 3 by replacing the cap-resistor series pairs with wire links. Component tolerances aren't usually very important, even changing values one or two complete steps often only makes a small difference.

F I N A L L Y!! been WAY busier than I thought I would be but I finished it before I left for Vegas (here for 3 months BTW) & what little time I had with the guitar I felt that it was all good; a good schematic/idea & that the TREB/BASS circuit is certainly the way to Always Go IMHO ;-) Thanks Y'all !

Nice to see you MM. So are you finding those half-split tones to be as you hoped?

Nice to see you MM. So are you finding those half-split tones to be as you hoped? Yep I've epoxied trim pots to the proper pots & drilled tiny holes to access them via Precicion Screwdriver so as to 'tune' them to whatever amp is used! The skirts of the Strat Style Knobs cover/mask them so it's easy to hide these small holes when the knobs are pushed back on when needed! (Incidentally, now I'm StateSide, I've posted a new wiring 'odessey' on this forum..!)๐ Thanks for your great help

I like the "stealth" nature of this. Cool tip, and one I hadn't heard before.
