Someone, logged in only as a "guest" apparently for anonymity's sake, has generously stepped up and bought us Nutz some time freed from Proboards' banner ads. Our sincere thanks go out to whomever is responsible for this kind and generous donation!
We estimate we will probably get about 3-4 weeks of ad-free viewing, based upon our average numbers of monthly page views here. When the purchased time for ad-less pageviews finally expires, the faucet will be turned back on by ProBoards, and the banner ads will reappear. We are activating the ad-free blocks as of July 1.
Ad-free viewing will be available to both members and guests, since a guest was our benefactor this time. In the future, if a member should similarly donate ad-free page views, we will limit it to members only unless the patron PMs the staff to tell us to open it up to all.
Again, our heartfelt
Thanks!
The G-Nutz2 staff

Thanks indeed. I once did the same for another Proboards forum only to discover that admin had to apply it and it never happened. That was the end of those dollars!

Well folks, day one of Ad-free. I put up some fireworks on the default theme to celebrate the upcoming US holiday but I reckon we can use them to celebrate the temporary independence from ads, as well.

Tick ... tick ... tick ...
We've used almost 98,000 of the 100,000 ad-free page view from the two blocks that were gifted to us. We'll see ads again by the end of the day. It was nice while it lasted.

i average several site visits per day but cut down to once per day guess on the plus side, that means a lot of folks are finding answers on our humble little forum?

Yeah, thetragichero, we don't have anywhere near the posting activity we had in the early days but there are tons of page views so apparently lots of folks use the forum for reference material. I reckon much of it is in Guitar Wiring and the Schematics section. And of course recently the Pickup Testing and Modeling sub-board has become a key destination.

It's a shame to think that as a result of someone's altruistic intentions an unknown number of web bots didn't have to put up with invasive advertising but there you have it...

Not to put too fine a point on it . . .

b4nj0, I'm fairly certain some of the ad-free pageviews were indeed wasted on web-bots. But I reckon that was only a small percentage.

Web bots ensure some degree of legacy.
As (I think ...) SG has noted previously- it's a shame that John Aitchley blocked the snooping squiddies?
