My previous smart-aleck post notwithstanding...
TO ALL:
I've been searching for quite some time for an on-line community to become active in. I've learned about subjects ranging from forensic pathology to how to wire a guitar to what part on my car needs replacing - all in forums just like this. For those who want to know, to those who know and want to share - forums are valid and valuable.
This one, however seems a bit different than most of the ones I've been lurking in...
The diversity of this group amazes me. On the one hand we've got people seriously discussing theoretical physics and speaking knowledgably about advanced electronic principles, and on the other we've got people asking what color to paint a guitar, and actively participating in polls of fantasy-gear.
What amazes me further is the lack of snobbery that makes this such a unique forum. The same people who can actually discuss infinite sustain possibilities in a vacuum are just as likely to answer red, or, blue, or green when it comes to the optimum color for your axe. Nobody's left out. Nobody gets left behind.
My hat is off to you, ladies and gentlemen, for sharing your thoughts and views on both the serious and the absurd, and for making me and every other FNG feel welcome. Thank you for your tolerance, patience, and free exchange of thoughts and experience without prejudice.
Whatever your beliefs, I wish you all a happy holiday (Christmas in my case), and a prosperous new year ahead.

My 15 year old daughter would say something like, "this board is Amazing!" which I think in teen speak is the new word for Awesome, which in my generation was "far out, man."
I am struck with the respect that the community seems to exude, sustain, and even inculcate in the newbies. When I get here I have to set aside my more acerbic self and be considerate, civil and even watch my language (or the censor filter will do it for me). It is like that line from that Jack Nickleson file where he is OCD, and he says something like, I hate the drugs, but take them for you, because you make want me a better man"
I have made PMail connections where encouragement, warmth, brilliance and silliness are shared, through this board.
It is a little jewel. One part of me hopes the pool gets larger to elicit a wider range of information, but also fears it will dissolve into some of the "tail end of the bell curve" behavior that spoils other interest groups. In fact I see this board as the tail end of the bell curve, but the exceptional side not the sub human side.
Hats off to all for the holidays. Lets hope Santa, or your favorite Saint, Prophet, Seer, Guru, Guardian Angel, Sprite or Mom gave you the pickup, body, neck or obscure switch you crave.
UnderDog, thanks for starting this. As Elvis Costello said, " (What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love And Understanding)" Oh and UD, Now that you are back in Texas we'll have to have a talk about public displays of sentimentality. We have to save that for the ranch dogs and horses. ;=)
Happy New Year.

i'm not even gonna try to be as gracious and articulate as those who have preceded me on this thread.
i'm just not as touchy - feely as y'all. (well, under certain circumstances, with members of the opposite sex, under the cover of darkness... oh hey, let's not get off track here)
let's just say, i do appreciate that you put up with the off-the-wall humor and opinions i contribute here.
this forum has gone through a few growth spurts, and just recently, we've seen a quite few new members that seem like they will be regular contributors.
merry christmas to all, happy holidays, and here's hoping for a new year that brings more members to the forum, and more joy to our members.
and happy birthday to Pete (my dad) may he rest in peace.
and a special happy birthday to all those, who like him, have endured years of "here's a present, for your birthday and christmas" and still kept a smile on their faces. may god love you.

i also like that this board is quite international, despite of such a small community.
music is something that makes all borders melt away.

This is a great place to hang out - so much more than just a source of information. Every day there is new enthusiasm, a challenge, or something new to learn and people to meet that we could never come across elsewhere.
The international angle is a huge bonus for those of us outside the zone of the 60Hz hum - it is a 'buzz' (sorry) to make a connection with folk across borders and across the planet, and instantly connect on a subject of mutual interest.
I think the world would be better place if our leaders spent a little more time figuring out how to wire up three humbuckers with series/parallel options.
best wishes to all John

John, I read your post a while ago, but it still makes me giggle every time I think about it. But maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea. I swear to God I would vote some of the GN2 members into office based solely on their creative wiring configs. As a sidenote I also wanted to thank everyone for all their friendly, non-judgemental help and advice. You all may not notice it yourself, but I beleive I have come a long way in a short while thanks to this forum. It's just an added bonus that this meets my court-ordered requirements for self-help group participation. ;D Happy New Year! -Aaron

I'm afraid I'm too cynical to believe that such a world could ever exist. I would die a happy man if guitar manufacturers would just bring out the 4 wires from a humbucker and NOT seal everything up in those tight as a drum, chrome covered, epoxy-filled, sealed-for-eternity ^&%$!( (*@#)$ *&%!&^(_) &^%&$# BRICKS !!! I'll be okay. "They" told me it's time for my medication.
Actually, I'm really angry now because I just retyped this entire message because for some ungodly reason the "board" popped up a message saying I don't have posting priveleges here - and at the same time deleting my message. GREAT time to tell me AFTER I prevew the message and then they delete it.

Cool. Good point. Contributing to a creative, inquisitive group like this is it's own reward. The fun thing is people here like to say "What if....?" and then try it.
(and I do remember Polly Purebred......)
