The 5-Way SSOoP wiring requires the neck pickup's cover to be grounded with a separate wire than the pickup's ground wire. The 5-Way SSOoP setup gives you these 5 choices: 5-Way Switching: 1. Bridge 2. Neck & Bridge in Series - Out-of-Phase 3. Neck & Bridge in Parallel 4. Neck & Bridge in Series 5. Neck Tele with 5-Way SSOoP Let's start with a typical single coil Tele with standard volume and tone controls. 5-Way Switching: 1. Bridge 2. Neck & Bridge in Series - Out-of-Phase 3. Neck & Bridge in Parallel 4. Neck & Bridge in Series 5. Neck 2 Humbucker Tele with 5-Way SSOoP Here's what it looks like with 2 humbuckers. 2 Humbucker Tele with 5-Way SSOoP and Modified TBX Tone Control Any time I have 2 humbuckers, I like to install my modified TBX tone control to get high & low cut. 2 Humbucker Tele with 5-Way SSOoP and Push-Pull Tone Control Here's what it looks like with a push-pull tone pot that switches both humbuckers to single coils. I prefer the outside coil of the neck pickup and the inside coil if the bridge pickup, so that's how this is wired. This will usually give you a north magnet of one pickup and a south magnet of the other, so they will remain hum cancelling when combined. 2 Humbucker Tele with 5-Way SSOoP and 2 Push-Pull Tone Controls If you want to be able to select single coils independently, this setup uses 2 push-pull pots. The volume pot will switch the neck pickup from a humbucker to the outside single coil. The tone pot will switch the bridge pickup from a humbucker to the inside single coil. 2 Humbucker Tele with 5-Way SSOoP and S-1 Tone Control If you like the look and operation of the Fender S-1 switching pots, here's what it looks like with an S-1 for the tone pot that switches both humbuckers to single coils.
