Be sure to check out my Strat-O-Teles page for more 3 pickup options. The Nashville Tele Maybe it would be more accurate to call this the Nashville B Bender Tele, since this is the switching setup that comes on the B Bender version of the Nashville Tele. If you're a Tele player, you don't want Strat switching on your Tele, do you? I didn't think so. You want this. 5-Way Switching: 1. Bridge 2. Middle & Bridge 3. Neck & Bridge 4. Middle & Neck 5. Neck The Simple Strat-O-Tele with Push-Pull Switch - Tele Version Here's the Tele version of the Simple Strat-O-Tele. Since there is only one tone control, a "half" Super Switch can be used. Push-Pull Down: 1. Bridge 2. Middle & Bridge 3. Neck & Bridge 4. Middle & Neck 5. Neck Push-Pull Up (Normal Strat): 1. Bridge 2. Middle & Bridge 3. Middle 4. Middle & Neck 5. Neck The Tele Version of the 9-Way Strat The 7-Way Strat is a very popular mod for Strats. After the 7-way Strat setup, the next popular pickup choice to add is the Neck & Bridge pickups in series. Here's a way to get those 3 additions plus 1 more by adding a single toggle switch to the standard 5-way Strat wiring (total of 9 choices). It uses a 3 position On/On/On toggle. 9-Way Switching: Toggle Switch Center (Normal Strat): 1. Bridge 2. Middle & Bridge (Parallel) 3. Middle 4. Middle & Neck (Parallel) 5. Neck Toggle Switch Forward: 1. Bridge 2. Middle & Bridge (Parallel) 3. Middle 4. Neck & Bridge in Series w/ Middle Parallel 5. Neck & Bridge in Series Toggle Switch Back: 1. Neck & Bridge (Parallel) 2. All 3 Pickups (Parallel) 3. Middle 4. Middle & Neck (Parallel) 5. Neck 3 Pickup Tele with 5-Way Super Switch For those who want the Middle & Bridge pickup sound of a Strat on their Tele. The tone pot is also disconnected in Position 2 for maximum quack. 5-Way Switching: 1. Bridge 2. Middle & Bridge - No Tone Control 3. Neck & Bridge in Parallel 4. Neck 5. Neck & Bridge in Series 3 Pickup Tele with 5-Way Megaswitch M This is the same setup as above, but wired using the Schaller Megaswitch M 5-way switch. 5-Way Switching: 1. Bridge 2. Middle & Bridge - No Tone Control 3. Neck & Bridge in Parallel 4. Neck 5. Neck & Bridge in Series 3 Pickup Tele with 5-Way Super Switch Version 2 The same concept as the 5-way setups above, but positions 4 & 5 are reversed for those who like Position 5 to be the standard Tele Neck pickup only. 5-Way Switching: 1. Bridge 2. Middle & Bridge - No Tone Control 3. Neck & Bridge in Parallel 4. Neck & Bridge in Series 5. Neck 3 Pickup Tele with 5-Way Megaswitch M Version 2 Version 2 using the Schaller Megaswitch M 5-way switch. 5-Way Switching: 1. Bridge 2. Middle & Bridge - No Tone Control 3. Neck & Bridge in Parallel 4. Neck & Bridge in Series 5. Neck Fat Nash Tele I really like this idea. With the S-1 Up, it switches like a typical Nashville Tele. With the S-1 down, the three 2 pickup combinations change from being pickups in parallel to being pickups in series. S-1 Up (Nashville Tele Mode) 1. Bridge 2. Middle & Bridge (Parallel) 3. Neck & Bridge (Parallel) 4. Neck & Middle (Parallel) 5. Neck S-1 Down (Fat Nash Mode): 1. Bridge 2. Middle & Bridge in Series 3. Neck & Bridge in Series 4. Neck & Middle in Series 5. Neck HHH Tele 5-Way with All Series Connections Here's a wiring setup using Seymour Duncan Hot Rails pickups (although any SD single coil sized humbuckers should wire the same). If these pickups are installed with the standard Strat switching, positions 2 and 4 give you 2 humbuckers in parallel. With this setup, positions 2 and 4 give you a single coil of one pickup in series with a single coil of the other pickup for a virtual humbucker sound. A north coil of one pickup is combined with a south coil from the other pickup to maintain the hum cancelling properties of the pickups. 5-Way Switching: 1. Bridge Humbucker 2. Bridge South Coil & Middle North Coil in Series 3. Middle Humbucker 4. Neck North Coil & Middle South Coil in Series 5. Neck Humbucker HHH Tele 5-Way with Parallel In-Between Positions Here's another wiring setup using Seymour Duncan Hot Rails pickups (although any SD single coil sized humbuckers should wire the same). If these pickups are installed with the standard Strat switching, positions 2 and 4 give you 2 humbuckers in parallel. With this setup, positions 2 and 4 give you a single coil of one pickup in parallel with a single coil of the other pickup for a sound more like a traditional Strat in-between sound. A north coil of one pickup is combined with a south coil from the other pickup to maintain the hum cancelling properties of the pickups. 5-Way Switching: 1. Bridge Humbucker 2. Bridge South Coil & Middle North Coil in Parallel 3. Middle Humbucker 4. Neck North Coil & Middle South Coil in Parallel 5. Neck Humbucker Or, if you like Positions 2 & 4 to have no tone pot in the circuit, it could be wired like this. 5-Way Switching: 1. Bridge Humbucker 2. Bridge South Coil & Middle North Coil in Parallel - No Tone Control 3. Middle Humbucker 4. Neck North Coil & Middle South Coil in Parallel - No Tone Control 5. Neck Humbucker HSH Tele with Strat 5-Way Switching, Independent Volumes, and Single Coil Options This is a wiring setup that gives you the typical Strat 5-way switching with independent volumes and push-pull (or push-push) pots to have the Neck or Bridge pickups as singles coils instead of humbuckers. One volume is for the Neck pickup and the other is for both the Middle & Bridge pickups. The tone control is a master tone. 5-Way Switching 1. Bridge 2. Bridge & Middle 3. Middle 4. Neck & Middle 5. Neck HSH Tele with Strat 5-Way Switching, Independent Volumes, Single Coil Options, and TBX Tone Control This is a wiring setup that gives you the typical Strat 5-way switching with independent volumes and push-pull (or push-push) pots to have the Neck or Bridge pickups as singles coils instead of humbuckers. One volume is for the Neck pickup and the other is for both the Middle & Bridge pickups. The tone control is a Fender TBX tone control wired as Fender typically does. 5-Way Switching 1. Bridge 2. Bridge & Middle 3. Middle 4. Neck & Middle 5. Neck HSH Tele with Strat 5-Way Switching, Independent Volumes, Single Coil Options, and Modified TBX Tone Control This is a wiring setup that gives you the typical Strat 5-way switching with independent volumes and push-pull (or push-push) pots to have the Neck or Bridge pickups as singles coils instead of humbuckers. One volume is for the Neck pickup and the other is for both the Middle & Bridge pickups. The tone control is a Fender TBX tone control wired with my modification to get High Cut/No Load/ Low Cut with one knob.. 5-Way Switching 1. Bridge 2. Bridge & Middle 3. Middle 4. Neck & Middle 5. Neck SSH Telecaster with 5-Way Switching and Blend Pot 5-Way Switching: 1. Bridge 2. Middle & Bridge - Parallel 3. Middle & Bridge - Series 4. Middle & Neck - Parallel 5. Neck |
