Super Switch - MegaSwitch Conversion Here's a diagram to help you convert the wiring connections between a dual wafer 5-way Super Switch and the Schaller MegaSwitch M. Fender S-1 to 4PDT Toggle Conversion Here's a diagram to help you convert the wiring connections between a Fender S-1 and a 4PDT Toggle switch. 3 Toggle Switches for Parallel or Series Switching This is an idea I had for a 3 pickup guitar with 3 toggle switches. It allows you to mix pickups either in parallel or in series (but not both). It is similar to the old Dan Armb Super Strat wiring setup, but all three switches are 3 position On-On-On toggle switches. If a switch is in the center position, the pickup is off. If the switch is flipped toward the neck, the pickup is on in parallel mode. If the switch is flipped toward the bridge, the pickup is in in series mode. If all 3 toggles are in the off (center) position, there is no output (kill switch). If one or more pickups are in series mode and you turn on a pickup in parallel mode, the parallel mode switch will override all of the others. This does make it possible to switch from pickups in series to a single pickup by flipping just one switch. If all 3 toggles are in the off (center) position, the output is grounded so you won't get any hum through the amp. 3 Toggle Switches for Parallel or Series Switching This is the same switching system as above, but with the addition of my modified TBX tone control that gives you treble cut or bass cut with one knob. This helps to thin out & brighten up the in-series connections when needed. This is how the above wiring setup switches schematically. 3 Toggle Switches for Parallel or Series Switching This is a variation of the wiring setup above for a 3 pickup guitar with 3 toggle switches. It allows you to mix pickups either in parallel or in series (but not both). This setup only requires 1 4PDT switch, but the downside is that if you turn all 3 switches to the off (center) position, the output of the guitar is connected to nothing - like an unplugged cable. This will usually create a buzz or hum from the amp. This is how the above wiring setup switches schematically. 3 Toggle Switches for 3 Tapped Single Coils This is a wiring setup for 3 tapped single coil pickups. It allows you to choose between the full pickup coil or the tapped coil by flipping the related toggle switch one way or the other. The center position of the toggle turns the related pickup off. Pickups that are on simultaneously are always in parallel with each other in this setup. Jaguar Style Switching with Series/Parallel Option This is a wiring setup for a 2 pickup guitar with 3 DPDT slide switches, somewhat similar to a Fender Jaguar configuration (without the top controls). There's an On-Off switch for each pickup and a third switch that determines how the pickups will be combined when both pickups are on. In Parallel mode (Up), the pickups will be on together in parallel. In the Series mode (Down), the pickups will be on together in series. When both pickups are off in either mode, the output will be grounded (muted). Jaguar Style Switching with Kill Option This is a wiring setup for a 2 pickup guitar with 2 DPDT slide switches & 1 SPST slide switch, somewhat similar to a Fender Jaguar configuration (without the top controls). There's an On-Off switch for each pickup and a third switch that kills the output. When both pickups are off, the output will be grounded (muted). Jaguar Style Switching with Straight to Output Option This is a wiring setup for a 2 pickup guitar with 3 DPDT slide switches, somewhat similar to a Fender Jaguar configuration (without the top controls). There's an On-Off switch for each pickup and a third switch that bypasses the Volume & Tone controls and connects the pickup(s) straight to the output jack. When both pickups are off, the output will be grounded (muted). Jaguar Style Switching with Series/Parallel & Straight Out Options This is a wiring setup for a 2 pickup guitar with 3 DPDT slide switches, somewhat similar to a Fender Jaguar configuration (without the top controls). There's an On-Off switch for each pickup and a third switch that bypasses the Volume & Tone controls and connects the pickup(s) straight to the output jack. When both pickups are "off", you get both pickups on in series. 2 P-90 SG with 3-Way Toggle and Series/Parallel Option 3-Way Switching: Push-Pull Down: 1. Bridge 2. Neck & Bridge in Parallel 3. Neck Humbucker with Outside Split/Series/OoP Toggle Switch This is a partial wiring diagram showing a way to wire a 3-way On-On-On 4PDT switch to a humbucker to have the option of the coils in series (normal humbucker), one coil, or the coils in series but out of phase with the other pickup(s). Neck Treble Cut – CCW for Cut Bass Cut – CCW for Cut HHH Strat 5-Way with All Series Connections Here's a wiring setup using Seymour Duncan Hot Rails pickups (although any SD single coil sized humbuckers should wire the same). If these pickups are installed with the standard Strat switching, positions 2 and 4 give you 2 humbuckers in parallel. With this setup, positions 2 and 4 give you a single coil of one pickup in series with a single coil of the other pickup for a virtual humbucker sound. A north coil of one pickup is combined with a south coil from the other pickup to maintain the hum cancelling properties of the pickups. 5-Way Switching: 1. Bridge Humbucker – Tone 2 2. Bridge South Coil & Middle North Coil in Series – Tone 2 3. Middle Humbucker – Tone 1 4. Neck North Coil & Middle South Coil in Series – Tone 1 5. If these pickups are installed with the standard Strat switching, positions 2 and 4 give you 2 humbuckers in parallel. With this setup, positions 2 and 4 give you a single coil of one pickup in parallel with a single coil of the other pickup for a sound more like a traditional Strat in-between sound. A north coil of one pickup is combined with a south coil from the other pickup to maintain the hum cancelling properties of the pickups. 5-Way Switching: 1. Bridge Humbucker – Tone 2 2.
