So Mrs. Newey and I hadn't been up to our cabin in Pennsylvania for 6 weeks or so, what with the sheltering in place and all, but we decided to go up this past weekend just to check on things. We weren't going to see anybody, and the only contact I had in public was with the handle of a gas pump on the trip up there. So we sheltered at the cabin for a change of scenery. And I checked the gamecam I have strapped to a tree out back. Turns out we had a visitor on 3/31: (The timestamp had the AM/PM reversed, it's actually 5 am. I fixed that when I reset it) Saturday night, while we were sleeping, the wife said she heard something on the front porch. She was right, the big guy (actually, probably a lady) was back: Apparently the camera-happy type . . .

my folks have been holed up in their cabin in the Catskills since sometime in March. apparently caused quite a stir in the local Facebook page because they're mostly "weekenders" but like y'all they're pretty self-contained getting up there, and being on a couple acres instead of packed in like sardines back in Jersey is a much nicer way to ride this all out haven't seen any wildlife security cam photos though

We've had the place for 7 years now, and the first summer I was up there by myself (and without the dog, also) and saw a small bear up the hillside, but he ran off before I could get the camera/phone.
After 6 weeks away, I had over 1000 pix on the game cam, most of which were of nothing- blowing snow will trigger the shutter, or a high winds blowing nearby tree branches. But in addition to the bear, we had hundreds of pix of deer, they're there virtually every day. Also numerous rabbits, raccoons, chipmunks. But in addtion to those, we had about a dozen wild turkeys, an opossum or two, several foxes, and a lone porcupine. The gamecam is aimed at a salt block, so they all come to get their dose of minerals.
