I did this one some years ago and find it's excellent at pulling trebles/mids/bass in and out of the mix. All the way bright to pretty heavy is possible. It is a little unusual to have 4 knobs on a Strat pickguard, and the regular size are a bit big, but smaller knobs work fine. 7 pickup combinations... but a regular 5-way switch or any other combination will work fine too, as really the magic starts with the "active tone controls seasoning the sound. Having said that leaving them in the middle (no EQ) also sounds good.

Actual build picture. Made sure my drawing was good and fit was good before soldering LOL.

Hi ssstonelover,
I’m really into designing various pcb effects and wondered if you designed the preamp/tone module itself or if it were a “for purchase” one? Also, Are you running 50k, 100k or 250k pots on the Tone module.

Hi Frets, this is a unit targeted for a Les Paul guitar, but as you can see, with some very small modification, it can work elsewhere. I got it from Guitar Fetish. Here is the link: www.guitarfetish.com/Guitar-Preamp-GainBassMidTreble-Our-Best-Unit_p_411.html The volume pot is 50K. Its been a long time so don't remember the value on the other ones (center detented) but either 25 or 50K... I have not designed any pcb boards... at least not yet!

Hi SSS,
I now remember seeing these on GFS’ site a long time ago. I would like to try it out.
