Hello all
I am trying to set up a strat type system with 5-way switch that allows me to have the bridge always on, the body cavity is too shallow to fit a push-pull so I have substitued one of the tones for a dpdt mini toggle that would (in theory) keep the bridge switched on when engaged. However, things have not gone to plan! Modifying the standard 3 sc 5-way wiring this is what I thought would work (apologies for the rudimentary picture):
What I thought this would achieve is:
toggle up -
1. neck/bridge 2. neck/middle/bridge 3. middle/bridge 4. middle/bridge 5. bridge
toggle down -
1. neck 2. neck/middle 3. middle 4. middle/bridge 5. bridge
What I am actually getting with this is:
toggle up -
1. bridge 2. neck/middle/bridge 3. neck/bridge 4. neck/bridge 5. neck/bridge
toggle down -
1. nothing 2. neck/middle 3. neck 4. neck/bridge 5. nothing
Clearly I have got this all wrong but can someone please explain what I need to change?

that is Strange could i have a Photo of the Switch so can see the Moving parts. ------------------ Im not a big fan of this circuit as you get 3/10 the same 30%! where if it was | 0 Common | 1 | 2 | 3 | A | OUPUT | +Middle | +Neck | -Middle | B | GROUND | -Middle | Not Connected | +Middle |
A0) Output, A1) +M, A2) +N, A3) -M B0) Ground, B1) -M, B2) NC. B3) +M that way you are phasing the Middle (was going to suggest phasing the Bridge with a toggle but!! never on its own then) So 2P2T (On/On/On) | 1 | Common | 2 | A | OUTPUT | +Bridge | GROUND | B | GROUND | From 5way | OUTPUT |
A1)[12] Output AC) +B, A2)[ 3] GND B1)[1 ] GND BC) From 5way, B2)[23] Output 1) Bridge 2) Bridge + 5way Switch 3) 5way Switch

shooter- Hello and Welcome to G-Nutz2!It sounds like there are (at least) 2 separate problems. In the positions where you are getting nothing, probably a bad connection. But I also wonder if you have correctly identified which lugs are the "common" or "pole" lugs on the 5-way switch. Depending on the specific brand of switch, it can be hard to tell sometimes. Any serious troubleshooting will require a multimeter. Do you have one?

the gilmour mod is what your after? bridge pickup to lug 1 on selector the DPDT common 2 GOES TO volume pot
dpdt lug 4 to pos 3 of selector correct?
shooter something to compare to basic diagram though tone pot should be connected to vol not common
