Hi Guys😺😺😺,
This question is a last ditch effort to figure something out. I sold an HSS harness to a customer that says he has 4 conductor Fender single coils (which is an oxymoron-kinda). He can’t get the middle and neck pickup to work. He says on these pickups, he has red green black and white with black and white taped back. Sounds like a Humbucker to me. Anyway, on this circuit, I’ve never had any problems. He has the green as hot and red as ground; which, if it were a Humbucker would be correct for Fender. The config is such that it has a coil split and a neck on push pull. The humbucker works fine but the middle and neck do not. I have no idea what he’s talking about with single coil 4 conductor Fender pickups. Have you guys heard of such a beast?

a customer that says he has 4 conductor Fender single coils I've seen three-wire Fender single coils (Vintage Noiseless, Gen-4 Noiseless, etc) that have two wires connected to the coil and one wire connected to the baseplate. But I haven't come across Fender SCs with four-wire cabling. Maybe the first step would be to ask him which model of Fender pickups he's using, and we can do some research?

Well, lo and behold he says they are not Fenders but DiMarzio’s DP-422W’s and he still says they don’t work. I think he’s trying to get a free harness.

Maybe he isn't being devious but instead he doesn't have the wiring right. Those are stacked HBs in a single coil form factor. Here's DiMarzio's reference for wiring that type of pickup: d2emr0qhzqfj88.cloudfront.net/s3fs-public/2020-12/Strat%20Stacked%20Hum%20Canceling%20Wiring.pdfIn your OP, you cited him saying he has "black and white taped back". Make sure he has the black and white connected to each other, then taped off.

yes it certainly sounds like user error he certain each individual pickup's white and black are connected and then wrapped?
