Hi all,
I'm building myself a jazzmaster, which as you know has two single coil pickups, and a 3-way pickup toggle switch a la gibson. Under normal circumstances, the middle position simply connects the two positive pickup leads in parallel, and the grounds are grounded to the guitar ground.
I'd like to include a push pull pot that allows me to select parallel or series wiring for the pickups when the 3 way toggle switch is in the center position. This will take some creative thinking, and I can't quite wrap my brain around whether this is possible or not.
Any ideas on whether this would be possible? I'm having a hard time finding a schematic if so.
Thanks! Geoff

i feel like something could be done to achieve this. right now i am fighting with an amp but i will have this kicking around in the back of my head for when i have the time to get pen and paper out
it's also possible that this has already been figured and someone will along to point you towards it

However, a reasonable alternative is possible. The wiring can be done such that in one position of the push-pull, the pickup selector will function as it normally does. Neck / Both in parallel / Bridge. In the other position of the push-pull you'll have Both pickups in series, regardless of what position the pickup selector is in.

gd, Hi, and to The NutzHouse! What you want has been discussed at length in this thread: guitarnuts2.proboards.com/thread/8231/series-wiring-using-gibson-switchBut that's rather long, so let's cut to the chase. Just above, reTrEaD told you that you would need to use a second switch to "override" the primary selector switch. Meaning that in one position of the secondary switch, you'd have Neck, Both in parallel, and Bridge. In the other position you'd get series, regardless of the primary switch's selection. Here's a diagram of how to make that happen, and as it happens, this image also comes from reTrEaD, albeit from a different thread than my first paraghaph's link. Does this make sense to you? And if not, then ask your questions - we're here to help! sumgai
