I am happy to report that Alex is very much alive and well! We met up for a couple beers, in Copenhagen, DK, last summer, while I was on tour.

Looks good to me too. This might be better since it's more direct and eliminates some extraneous wire. I see that your little jumper, on the dpdt, tidys it up, but looks like the wire from bridge switch to middle switch would cause the tone to always be in play?

Please have a look. I tried a version of this that didnt work right, so I re-designed it and would like a vetting, before I wire it all up wrong, again The goal is for the dpdt to choose between Any combo of the 3 pups (with volume and tone pots, enabled) or Bridge only (with only the volume pot working)

My son, Huckleberry's band, The Opines. He's on bass. They played this rendition at our local, 2nd annual Rockin' Yule Bizarre concert. They had the whole place headbanging, especially Santa, even Gramma!

I quit smoking by vaping. At first, I used the medium or strong nicotine juice, and then worked down to light juice, and even started diluting the light with zero. Also, during this time, I chewed the gum, occasionally. I started going outside to vape or chew, just to simulate the 'smoke break' experience. Eventually, I got sick of the hassle of it all, and by that time, my addiction was pretty much gone, so I could quit it all.
It's been 4 years. I still crave it. Anytime I'm hanging out with smokers, and my girlfriend is not around, I make a nuisance of myself, bumming fags.

Do these work well, together, if you have the neck on p90 and the bridge on humbucker? I'm not asking about having them both on, but separately. Lets say I have it on neck p90, playing some rhythm, and then for a lead, i want to switch to bridge humbucker. Will there be a large mismatch in tone, where you would have to adjust the tone knob or amp, to get the right balance, between the two?
Also, how are these, (humbucking bridge) compared to a lil'59? I think I've read that they are just a little hotter than a 59?

This was the holiday edition of our monthly podcast, The neXt Show. We've been doing the live podcast for about a year, local bands, each month. Rock & talk. Also, the bands from that playlist, and more, about 15 bands, played similar sets at our Rockin Yule Bizarre concert. Got a podcast coming up, tomorrow the 5th, SiLM (kinda trippy ambient) 7-9 PST AnacortesMusicChannel.com

The Fralin Unbuckers are going to be my next pups, for the best of both worlds.
However, if you really want to stay with a single coil, use a compressor to fatten them up and make them 'sing' more.

I think about 40pF per foot is average-ish and fine in a good cable. I like the sound of my decent cables which are about that, based on them being 10'. If you liked the clarity of that, but use 15' for practical reasons, you should be able to find that based on 20 or 25pF per foot. Not all makes declare the numbers. One that does is Lava cable Are you saying that a 40pF cable, at 10' is about the same as a 20-25pF at 15'? 40 x 10 = 400, 26.7 x 15 = 400.. so yeah, seems like you do have to get a pretty good cable, if youre going to use a 15'. here's mogami specs: 47 or 39 www.parts-express.com/pedocs/specs/mogami-w2319-high-impedance-23-awg-guitar-instrument-signal-cable-specifications.pdfd'adarrio (planet waves), at 28: daddario.com/pwProductDetail.Page?ActiveID=4115&productid=18&productname=American_Stage_Instrument_CablesFrom this article: www.shootoutguitarcables.com/guitar-cables-explained/capacitance-chart.html I made this sheet (convert to pf/foot. Because 'Murica) docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/175fg69vMSKve64jzTBbZ0Ue9ZTyT0yUO2zUvpINekVk/edit?usp=sharingAlso, there's people out there *preferring* the high capacitance cables, to knock back the brightness a bit. Of course, they could probly turn their treble knob down a notch, too I got these conquest (35pf/ft) cables a while back, and except for one of the plug connections breaking, has been ok for the price. $24. Except for microphonics: if you have the gain way up, you can definitely hear it, slapping on the floor. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007GGA7WW/

Ok, John's meter is quite a bit more affordable than the LCR's out there, for sure.
What capacitance numbers are we looking for in terms of guitar cables? What is the range of 'crappy'/'ok'/'great'/'really great, but cant really be distinguished from good'? 10' is too short, for me; I usually play with 15'

Hey hey,
I've seen those little cable tester boxes, at GC, but seems like they just test continuity? Maybe they do better than that, detecting 'crapacitance' in some way? But still, what constitutes a 'green light' for that box, as opposed to a 'yellow light'?
What if I have two cables that test 'green' but want to know which is really better? What is the test, for that?
My basic curiosity, at the moment, is should I buy a couple medium-high-end cables and compare them to the cheap no-names I've been using? I have been using a DI box, sent to a mixer, looking at the meter on the mixer, comparing cords. I was able to weed out a bad cable.
tanx, JFP
pps, is there a tester, to test those cable testers?
