Well, hell... After I pulled the horn (which didnt make much diff), I pulled the chassis, again and attempted to play thru it. The buzz was still present, even with the chassis out of the box. I started messing with the volume knob, turning it up quite a bit...started to get some bad sounds, some cut-outs... and then a some spluttering and now it's almost completely dead. It still plays at very very faint volume, but it's fucked. I guess I blew something, maybe something that was already almost blown, i dont know.
Sumgai, I'm going to take it to Garytronics, in Stanwood, unless maybe you know a guy in Bellingham? I'm in Bham, often. Monroe is about twice as far as either of those...

It turns out, you have to take out 4 little screws on the back plate, as well, because the front and the back are actually connected, albeit kinda loosely. And then the whole thing comes out the back, but you gotta worry it past the tolex, on the box.
It didnt seem like anything in there was the problem, although now I'm re-wondering that. Because, I wound up taking out the speaker and removing the reverb tank. Easy enough, but it didnt solve the problem with the clank/buzz.
I'm going to try again taking the chassis out, because i guess it's got to be that flaky connection between the front and the back, that is resonating at higher volumes. I guess it could also be the horn, which would be pretty easy to take out as well.

I tried taking out those 4 screws, on the top, and the chassis definitely was disconnected from the top, but it didnt feel like it wanted to pull out. So, the reason I was doing that is there is a metallic buzz or resonance , at high volumes. When the amp is off, and you jostle it around, you can hear something clanging around in there. Not really like a reverb spring, more like just one clank. And that clank sounds to me like the same tone as the buzz that it makes. Anyway, I thought if I could get the guts out of the box, I could figure out what is buzzing and clanging. Also, this thing has a loud pop, when you turn the power off. You guys surely know the fix for this. Furthermore this amp has a ground loop hum, like almost everything else, in my room, unless you disable the ground (like the other humming things). But the weird thing is, I have a Peavey TKO75 sitting right next to it and plugged into the same power strip and that amp never hums.

Cool! It's really big and full, for a 'stripped down' album. Definitely reminds one of the noise punk, from days of old. Flipper, Saccharine Trust, especially your voice, sounds like a combo of those two. thanks for sharing

That is frickin cool! What if they both played at the same time, and you could instantly switch, between the two? IOW, they are both playing but there would be one button, that would toggle mute on either one.
ps, jPlayer is pretty good, cross-platform jplayer.org pps, I'd like to hear the Fralin Un-bucker. There's areally good vid, on yt, showing all the permutations of it, but it doesnt compare with other brands, models.

Ok, as long as we're talking tonewood...
I just saw, touched, played one of these:
Sandblasted finish. They look *so* cool. I love the texture of them, too. They make it in strats, teles, precisions, maybe jazzes, not sure. However, GuitarStoreGuy was telling me about the 'thin, nitro' finish and how that affected the sustain, at least... he may have stopped short of saying the tone was better, but as soon as he launched into it, I started racking my brain to remember what the Gnutz boys thought about finishes. Thoughts?

I found myself in sumgai's old neighborhood, today...The 1.5 hour drive to and from my place was horrendous rain. Over it. I did pick up a neat little PA, from craigslist, though.
I forget, are you living up in the PNW, now, Cyn1?

I dont mind extra holes. I'm going for speed of switching. I guess i didnt really consider the mini switches... smaller target, but also, less chance of an accidental switch, too. I'll have to give that a shot.

Thinking about my 'light touch dpdt' thread: guitarnuts2.proboards.com/thread/7566/dpdt-light-touch-tele-swtich... The only way to use a 1pdt in this idea would be a full, no pots blower, where the 1pdt switches the jack hot wire between Vol pot output and Bridge pup, correct? Or would that still leave the pots and combos still in effect?

Hey guys, I'm looking for a dpdt (no center) that has a light touch, like a Tele switch does. I've got a couple dpdt's in my box, but i need something I can throw with my pinkie. Or else, I have to really beef up my pinkie. This is going to be my master switch, between the 5-way and Bridge Blower. The goal is to go from rhythm (any position on the 5-way) to lead (bridge only) and back. I can go from N+M to bridge, easily enough, but getting out of a lead and into N+M is a b h. Plus, I want the Bridge Blower, no tone pot. I have the wiring scheme down, no problem there. Just, the switches I am able to find are really stiff.

I'll take a stab at this, before one of the smarter guys comes and tells us why I'm mostly wrong Firstly, if you think about it for a sec, you might see why connecting ground (whether a hunk of metal embeded in the wood or neck screws (same thing)) to the body is silly. The main thing is, the bridge is not 'the ground'. Everything connected to the minus side of the output jack is ground, which includes the minus of the pups, the shell of the pots, etc. The reason to hook the bridge to the ground is to reduce noise when youre touching or not touching the strings and/or bridge. So, in this case, you'd want to ground each of the strings thru *all* the ferrules or whathave you.
