Okay. I doubt my curiosity would ever get to this point in another forum, but heck, I feel like I know you guys. Afterall, I "converse" with you all day (or at least read your conversations with others while I take notes). And so after seeing all your usernames so many times I finally started wondering about what they all meant.
Yeah, its a stupid topic, but I'm on vacation and I've got nothin better to do until my wife gets home.
So, what is the origin of your username?

Oh, I forgot that I should probably go first.
eljib is short for El Jibarito, which is the term that Puerto Ricans use for their local brand of redneck/hillbilly/farmer (but in a very respectful way). It was given to me when I was back east because I was able to speak spanish with a particularily convincing puerto rican accent, which was something that they apparently didn't expect from a white guy.

My first electric/solidbody was/is a Johnson JS-050-¾, not really a "mini" (or a Strat), but close enough. And even though I'm not a true Mainer, I can fool even some of the natives into thinking I was born here. That first axe was the direct cause of my finding the GN site and joining this forum.

It's funny how this is making me look more closely at the spellings of the names. Since I never read outloud, I rarely take the time to sound out and memorize unfamiliar looking names/words, choosing instead to mentally acknowledge that it was there (kinda like when you read something that repetitavely uses a very long acronym and you end up skipping over it to save time).
For example, Dunkelfalke, until I saw the explanation of your name my eyes simply scanned over it quickly and translated it to my brain as "Dunnel Flake." As soon as I really started to wonder what the heck a Dunnel Flake was, I figured it might make a good thread.
Anyway, thanks to those who have shared, so far.

I've always liked canine creatures all my life and have owned a few dogs. I think the wolf is a very interesting animal. In just about any message board, chat room, user name, etc that I use, "wolf" is in the username someplece.

"Underdog" was my favorite cartoon when I was a kid (And was in fact my old C.B. handle. What's that? What's a "C.B."? Dang kids....)
Anyway, when I first got into this newfangled internet thingie I found if I wanted to keep the handle I'd have to be "Underdog123456789101112" or some such... I chose "Polly's Hero" because Underdog is Sweet Polly Purebred's love interest and hero.

Vroom is my favorite band of all time, though they broke up in 2003. Their fame never really took off, but those that knew them were hooked.

I am in fact real slim. (skinny, to be frank) I'm the hardcore honky-tonk nut in my band, so when I came back from a trip to Nashville with a cheap cowboy hat, my bandmates started calling me Slim. I added "Chance", and this has been my honky-tonkin' stage persona now for.... oh, about a month. I think it nicely sums up my stature, my love of country music, and my meager prospects as a musician. I think I'll stick with it, since my real name (Mark White) is just about as dull as they come. (Also, its the name of the bass player for The Spin Doctors, and I don't want to be confused with that guy...)
Yours Truly, Slim Chance

Mine's pretty simple. I always try to be nice and do well by strangers I meet, sometimes even go out of my way. Things like gather up shopping carts from assenine locations for the Wal-Mart guy, hold doors open, smile and wave, that manner of thing. The fact is every time I do it, I hope to be just some random guy who does something nice, who, to the person I'm doing it for, is a total lifesaver.
Hence, RandomHero. =)

Thanks for starting this thread. This is a small and remarkable community. I have a great deal of respect for the regulars and when here I try to be on better behavior, since best is unachievable. Runes are ancient symbolic rubrics of communication, somewhere between hieroglyphics, pictographs and letters. Arcane and even a little primitive [YES]. I have several pseudonyms because it entertains me. In fact there are three here between my handle, avatar and affirmative quote. Little breadcrumb puzzles. I use different pseudonyms on the net for different purposes: One to register on site I want a brief visit to but no long term relationship with, another that reflects the topic, like "Tex Hornet" for a barbecue and spicy food site, etc. Runewalker is typically reserved for sites where there is to be ongoing communication in a written form, where I and others will 'walk the runes' of opinion, erudition, speculation, science, fiction and science-fiction. Just a little internal joke. I have now shared such a deep part of myself, I feel so exposed. Incidentally: HOOK 'EM HORNS! RW

C Band is a radar frequency. I'm a tech who's worked on, operated and cursed radars all my life. The "7" is because someone took 1 through 6 and I have absolutely no idea why. The mind boggles.

TooManyWires came from the reason why I joined the board. My first posts were with questions regarding what could be done with the Kent Armstrong MotherBucker. Basically two hot rails together as a humbucker. 8 wires. Way too much for me to figure out what could be done with at the time. That was back on the original GN1 forum, and I still haven't found the time/cash to get my hands on one and mess with it yet.

I alwasys used psw which is my real name. Unfortunately, in a kind of Ono/Lennon Moment, when i married 17 years ago, the S is actually my now ex wife's name. So, as my real name ended up with 22 letters in it, I became known as psw in real life pretty quick. Now the Marriage has ended, I thought it was time to change. As so many people on the net aren't what they seem (present company accepted) I now try to use this moniker 4real. Turns out to be a english rapper!
Anyway...I always liked this kind of number phonetic word thing. So occasionally you may come across im4real, 4tune8, 10shon, 2much, 4gone, 4give, 4get, 4ever, 4lorn, you get the idea. Once I had to use the name im4really4real...
4real...aka...pete...aka Mr Sustainer

...
well, i couldn't think of a good name and there was StratLover (is he still around?) so i decided to name myself after my guitar too--my Eastwood remake of a 60s Guyatone. and i'm the guy who plays it. ergo GuyaGuy.
(i will point out that "guya" is actually a japanese word and so Guyatone should be pronounced "goo-ya-tone," not "gai-a-tone." just in case you're interested.)
