I can do that. Today is Samedi Gras, so I won't have time (or, soon, coordination) to do it, but I'll get to it in the next couple days for sure.

I've been working on some rhythm & lead parts & I've about got it , except for one part that's got me a little stumped . My hold up is that I've cooked the motherboard in my recording computer . I'm getting ready to build another but I can't order the parts until next week , in the meantime I'm getting by on this older Mac that I got in a barter deal for some cabinet work , but I don't have a ProTools disk for Mac . I do have a Boss BR1200CD and I was able to import the nutzwip file into it with USB , but there seems to be something lost in the translation . I'm not sure about exporting the file back into a computer & have it all sync up . I'm workin on it . I also might install ProTools on my wife's PC , but it's still a little chilly around here for the dog house ;D Long story short , I think I'll have something to submit soon , kinda . BTW , I found that even with good monitor speakers it helps alot to boost the bass on the nutzwip track , now I can hear it no problem . -lpf3

I have to apologize for this.
Not as an excuse or anything: I'm doing all this in my living room, and monitoring through my home computer. This thing is our home entertainment center. We watch TV and movie on it. Listen to all our music on it. I've got it connected to a 2.1 system (actually 4.1, but we don't use the "surrounds") which I hate, but thought I had come to understand.
My most recent finished mix (way too long ago, a cover of the Low song "Dragonfly") sounded great in my studio on the big monitors. Sounded great on several good systems in several different rooms. Sounded acceptable on less good systems. I finally got it home here, and the bass guitar was way too loud! Everything else was fine, but the bass guitar just dominated everything.
I guess I tried to compensate for this. I failed to test this mix on less bassy systems. I've now come up with a couple solutions for this, and promise to check things a little better in future.
I've replaced both the .mp3 and the .zip (available from the 1st post in this thread) with files I think will work better on more systems. Somebody please let me know if it's gonna work.
Normally we try to maintain thread integrity by leaving faulty pics and stuff in place. In this case, I want to keep the links on the first post current without having to have cynical1 edit the thing every time I make a change or add a new track.

Ash -
Both the .mp3 and .wav files downloaded fine from the first posting and played on my PC speakers with no problems.
Anyone else try it?

Ok , who's in the mood for teachin' school? I've got a short rhythm track recorded ,and saved the file to my desktop . I need a " File Sharing for Dummies " lesson on how to get it to Cynical 1 or Ashcat ..... This is the file I exported from my BR1200CD , and I hope it sync's up ok , if it does I'll send more directly ...... Remember - File Sharing For Dummies -lpf3

Ash -
Check your FTP site under /uploads. I put lpf3's track up there. The file name is lpf2 - Rhythm - 1.27.wav
Thanks again to all who've sent in tracks. We still need all the lead work here. I believe with all the modded and hot rodded guitars out there that one of them can kick out some screamin' blues...

This is starting to sound like something now, folks. I should have a new WiP mix up late tonight.
I'm a little disappointed that lpf's rythm part doesn't go all the way through. I'm going to see if maybe I can copy and paste it into something reasonable.
I recorded a rythm and lead (actually, a couple takes of each) to this the other day. It was more just for practice. I'm not much of a lead player, but kind of want to get more comfortable in that area since I'm starting a band where the occasional solo might fit in. Some of it is actually pretty cool, if not virtuosic. I might include it down the road, but it needs some work.

Well, I updated the Work in Progress files to include the rhythm tracks we've got. I think it's interesting how well the three parts compliment each other, considering we couldn't hear each other. Maybe that's the secret. Or maybe it's cynical1's solid bassline.
I have not had a chance to check this mix on actual speakers yet, please let me know if there's something that makes it impossible to work with.
Anyway, when I opened the thread to post this, I was reminded that there's a lead track out here which I have yet to hear. Sorry about that...

Now this is a jam. Excellent work by all the guilty parties.
It is amazing,as Ash said, that with three guys in three different parts of the country, that you all played off each other so well. It sounds like a bunch of guys getting together and just jamming.
I take little credit...I had the easy part...I got in first...
Man, we get some lead on this and we're smokin'.
Great work on the mix, Ash.
And to to the three of you that played guitar, in alphabetical order, Ash, lpf3 and newey, my hat is off to you guys. Again, excellent work by all.
Now, to all you lead players out there...wherever you may be hiding...it's time for you to step up.

Yes, big props to Ash on the mix, he's the one with the heavy lifting on this project! Once it's done and we have a final version, the .mp3 of the track ought to be posted in Sound Samples, since that's where folks are likely to go to hear something. And, it needs a better title than "nutzWiP". I think I used to date that one. Cynical1 had suggested "Blue Nutz". Not bad, and, well, if the shoe fits . . . I had been saving my tracks under "Nutz Jam", but that's kind of dull.

Hey guys! I laid down a track yesterday to the jam. I sent CynicalOne the link to the track for downloading. I hope you guys like it. The finished version is going to cool.
Where is everyone located that contributed to the jam? TN here. I think its cool about how you guys got this started and all being from different locations.
Hope you like my addition!

Everyone who has contributed has their location posted (truthfully, AFAIK ) except for you and Cynical1. Far be it for me to "out" someone who didn't want their actual location listed, but Cyn's from "up in the land of the ice and snow . . ." Which then pretty much takes care of all of the players. Other than lpf3, from out west there, we're all from that wide swath through the middle of the US, more or less. Bunch of cold, snowed-in midwesterners, in other words.

Okay, I uploaded Fireball's lead track up to Ash's FTP site.
It's really coming together nicely. After 3 months we have drums, rhythm, lead and bass. And some people thought it couldn't be done.
So far, we have Ash, Fireball, lpf3, newey and yours truly stepping up to play. Ash is doing the multiple hat thing, with the drums, playing guitar and mixing.
I can't speak for everyone else, but this has been more fun then I've had playing in a long while. Everyone here stepped up and did a first class job.
To paraphase Henry V : "and gentlemen in this forum now abed shall think themselves acursed they were not here, and hold their manhoods cheap whilst any speaks, that played with us upon the Potluck Jam!"

Thus, the stage is set for Act II. I envision there are those In these environs, who will ne'er Let such a challenge idly slip, And will, once taken, the standard bear. (OK, so my iambic pentameter is worse than my guitar playing!)

Most of the snow had melted around here last week. It's all supposed to be coming back today at once. I wish I could truthfully list myself in New Orleans again, but...
I have added the two lead parts to the WiP files. Still calling it Work in Progress because I think there's still one or two out there. That, and I'm not ready to call this a final mix yet. I'm not sure I can include my lame noodlings alongside these tracks, but I'm still thinking about that.
Enjoy.

It's always money issues that break up the band. . I wouldn't be too concerned about licensing...we'll get paid the same with or without the license... On the bright side, at least we can pirate ourselves... This song is really coming together. I never imagined, when I brought this up 3 months ago that it would turn out this good. See, CK, there are people who actually play the guitars we talk about here... Imagine what we could have done if we were in the same room on this jam... I notice we have the USA represented here. The idea of the jam was to allow our friends in foreign lands to be able to participate. Where are you Australia, Europe and the UK? (read this as blatant chiding here...) With the current exchange rate you should be good for two songs... Great job by everyone here. I am proud to be a small part of this jam and to be able to play with all of you on this. Cynical1 - Check your DriveHQ account . I took the liberty of sending over one more file ...... I also took the liberty of recording a short harmony part over fireball's part toward the end of the song . Just 1 chorus at around 4:45 . It's called T06_01.WAV I just couldn't resist . Yeah , my guess is most of us violate the 28 * rule , so fame & riches are one thing we don't have to worry about . -lpf3 * My age and my waistline exceed 28 .
